The Story

Jackson Walsh has spent every summer of his twelve years at Copper Mountain, a small lakeside community built in the shadow of an abandoned mine. He knows the trails, the cabins, the campfire stories. He thinks he knows the history.

He's wrong.

When Jackson and his best friend Jada stumble into a basement they were never supposed to enter, they find a century-old map that leads deep beneath the mountain — to a place no one has seen since the mine's owner vanished in a mysterious explosion over a hundred years ago.

Every warning says to stay away.
Every instinct says to go in.

What they find will change everything they thought they knew about Copper Mountain, its history, and each other.

Adventure. Friendship.
A secret that could change everything.

About the Author

Isaac Lamont Matthews is a Canadian-born storyteller and musician, and a fifth-generation camper at Silver Islet — a remote former silver-mining community on the north shore of Lake Superior. He grew up on its docks and trails, raised on the legends buried beneath those waters, the same lore that inspired The Mystery of Copper Mountain, his debut full-length novel. He still comes back every summer.

He is also the author of the luminous & tender novella Annie & James.

Step into the dark.
